Isaiah 53

From the Authorized Version of the Bible, Isaiah Chapter 53: Who hath believed our report? and to Whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For He shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not his mouth: He is brought as a lamb to th...

Google Search Engine

Six letters in each word of Google Search Engine makes it the number 666, at least in English. However, whilst Google Earth has eyes over all the earth and can find all human knowledge placed on the internet (world wide web, www which some suggest looks a little like vivivi 666 in Roman numerals) and has a blog facility which enables people to publish their personal diaries, it is probably not the "person" mentioned in Revelation chapter 13. " Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six. " Revelation 13 verse 18 All very exciting and when there are meetings on prophecy the numbers are always higher than for other subjects. It seems a lot of people are interested in the future. It is of interest that the verse that follows draws our attention back to the Lord Jesus Christ as the Lamb: "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the moun...

The Meaning of Life

Years ago I remember seeing a film with this title as I was a fan of comedy, after all only a comedian would suggest that they know the meaning of life. It was in the days when I rarely read a Bible, but I was a person who had suffered a fair deal of trauma and felt that all my suffering would bring me some merit or favour or ultimate forgiveness before God. I do believe, though I did not know it, that God did love me but the first thing I needed to know was that I needed to be ashamed of things that I had done and humble myself before God. It would have been possible to continue in the path of pity for myself but in order to really change, and that I did - not through my own efforts - but by looking upwards. " Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: For I am God, and there is none else . " Isaiah chapter 45 verse 22 " Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of...

Superstition

Since this is the thirteenth post it may be a good time to mention superstition. I can remember being afraid of that number when I saw it and the fear is called triskaidekaphobia. I still feel a little uncomfortable with it and am thankful that it does not hold as much fear for me as it used to. Most daily papers would include a section divided into 12 signs that denote the time of your birth. Within these categories are found general predictions on what may happen to you or what you will experience. It caters for a need to know what is going to happen in the future. Why would this practice be something that would be against the will of the God of Heaven? What is the harm in consuming such advice and waiting for it to happen, surely there's no "harm" in it it's just a bit of fun? It stems from the desire to know that something better will come up and that we are unhappy with what we have. Superstition would be binding and the truth sets you free. "And ye shall kn...
